Self-portrait during quarantine on Lomo400 120mm film with the Mamiya RB67
A lil' bit about me
My name is Christopher Valdes, I am a Cuban-American photographer born in South Florida and currently based in West Palm Beach, FL.
I fell in love with film photography in 2014, and have been exposing rolls ever since. It has taught me patience, how to be intentional with all that I do, and has changed the way I look at the world around me!
Aside from photography, I enjoy modulating sound waves on my microKORG synthesizer over 707 drum kicks and am a graduate from Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy at Rutgers University.
When it comes to a particular style of photography, it’s difficult for me to define what type of subjects I shoot because I try not to limit myself to a particular scene.
From 2021-2023, I spent a lot of time photographing synth-wave/dark-wave/EBM artists in Brooklyn, NY. I got to shoot artist whom I listen to every day, blending their craft with the obscure grain embodied in high-speed film stocks (all with no flash)
I enjoy shooting portraits, landscapes, architectural, and conceptual pieces!
It’s a humbling opportunity to experience what light does, and I couldn’t ask for much more. So, if there’s something that catches my eye, and a camera in my hand-
My body responds with the firing of the shutter, and the rest is in the fate of the chemicals.
